VERONICA FERNANDO

Veronica graduated with an honours degree in Applied Biology in 1988. Her industry career started in clinical research working with Allen and Hanburys, where she obtained a thorough grounding in monitoring phase III studies.
In 1991 she moved to Bristol-Myers Squibb as a CRA, where she was responsible for the management of phase III and IV studies, from protocol development to report writing activities, across several therapeutic areas.
Veronica joined Sandoz in 1993 as a Clinical Project Leader where she was responsible for the trial management of a large number of phase III studies at local and international level. She supervised and trained monitors allocated to her projects. This position gave her excellent experience in project prioritisation and problem-solving.
In 1994, she transferred to the International Clinical QA Unit of Sandoz as an auditor. She gained experience in auditing across the entire clinical development process, from investigator site audits (phase I-III), CROs, phase I units, laboratories to database, clinical report and internal systems audits. She has obtained considerable knowledge of international regulatory requirements for GCP.
Whilst being an effective leader on audit teams and interactive team player, she has also trained new auditors. She has demonstrated a management advisory role on the improvement of internal systems and played a leading part in the post-merger integration of QA procedures.
She has completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Drug Development Sciences, which has extensively broadened her knowledge of the development of pharmaceutical medicines. It has increased her ability to make sound assessments based on an enhanced comprehension and awareness.
In 1997, Veronica moved from Novartis GCPQA and she established VERITUS CONSULTING to meet the specific clinical QA auditing needs of the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries. With her high professional standards and integrity she has ensured an exceptional quality service. She has had experience working with a variety of pharmaceutical companies and CROs and a very successful and enjoyable eight years in business.
Veronica is a member of BARQA, DIA, ICR and ACDM.
